IEC 61215 (performance standard) and IEC 61730 (safety standard) issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) serve as the fundamental standards for PV modules.
IEC 61215 verifies the power degradation characteristics of modules through 180-day accelerated aging tests, ensuring output power remains at least 80% of the rated value during the 25-year warranty period. IEC 61730 guarantees the structural safety of modules in extreme environments through 12 rigorous tests, including hail impact and hot-spot testing.
Currently, more than 90% of global PV tender projects explicitly require suppliers to hold both certifications.
